The UC Riverside Coaching staff is offering a summer High School Prospect Camp. The purpose of this camp is to give players the exposure they need to be recruited in the future. Players will have the opportunity to showcase their skills in the following areas: Speed, Arm Strength, Pitching, Infield, Outfield, Catching, and Hitting.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to meet the UC Riverside coaching staff and familiarize yourself with "Highlander" baseball. The Camps will provide you with valuable instruction for your development as a player and an opportunity for you to display your talents.
Each session will consist of offensive and defensive evaluations. Instruction will be conducted by the UC Riverside coaching staff. Participants will be divided into teams for evaluations of their performance in game situations.

Big West Pre-Season Poll Released, UCR 5th

The Big West announced it's 2008 pre-season poll as voted on by the coaches with in the conference. After winning their first ever Big West Title last season, UC Riverside was picked to finish fifth in 2008.
Despite returning seven players from a lineup that made the NCAA tournament including two 50-RBI men in seniors Aaron Wible and sophomore Mark Samuelson, the Highlanders were picked to finish behind four other teams.
Long Beach State earned the top spot after receiving five first place votes, followed by Cal State Fullerton, who received four first place votes. A team that played well down the stretch last season was Cal Poly, they were placed in the third spot, followed by UC Irvine, then the Highlanders. After UCR, it went, UC Santa Barbara in sixth, Pacific in seventh, and both Cal State Northridge and UC Davis were placed in the eight spot.
The defending Big West Champion Highlanders open their 2008 season with a four-game series at the UCR Baseball Complex on February 22-25 against the University of Washington.

UCR Camp FAQs
Q. How old do I have to be to attend a College baseball camp?
A. It always depends on the College baseball camp or showcase you are attending. Under all the locations on our site there is listed the specific age for the specific event. Most College baseball programs have prospect camps, youth camps, showcases or specific training camps and should be able to accommodate most age groups.
Q. What is difference between a basball showcase and college prospect camp?
A. Traditionally Prospect Camps are held by a specific college coaching staff looking to find players for their program only. A showcase invites many different college coaching staff's to attend thus the player is able to be seen by a wide variety of programs.
