CSF Baseball Ties School Record with Seven All-Americans in 2009

The 2009 Cal State Fullerton baseball team tied a school record by producing seven individuals earning All-American honors at season's end.

Daniel Renken (Soph., RHP, Cypress, Calif.), Christian Colon (Soph., SS, Corona, Calif.), Josh Fellhauer (Jr., OF, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.), Jared Clark (Sr., 1B, Castaic, Calif.), Noe Ramirez (Fr., RHP, East Los Angeles, Calif.), Nick Ramirez (Fr., LHP/DH, Anaheim, Calif.) and Tyler Pill (Fr., RHP, Covina, Calif.) each attained All-American status by at least one of five major presenters, with the final awards being given this week.

The 2009 College World Series qualifying squad matched totals yielded by the 2003 crew that saw Jason Windsor, Chad Cordero, Shane Costa, Justin Turner, Danny Dorn, Dustin Miller and Ryan Schreppel honored.

Though they were unable to match 2003's freshman class in numbers (four - Turner, Dorn, Miller and Schreppel), the 2009 detail did boast three Freshmen All-Americans (Noe Ramirez, Nick Ramirez and Pill) for the second consecutive year, a feat unmatched by any two seasons in Fullerton Div. I history.

The Titans' reign of quality pitching also continued in 2009, with four of the seven individuals earning accolades coming from the mound. This year marked the 12th consecutive year, and 17th of the last 18 years that the Titans have had at least on All-American pitcher - by far the longest streak in the nation.

Facilities
Goodwin Field is the third on-campus diamond to serve Cal State Fullerton and, since its inauguration, has been an undeniable home field advantage for the four-time NCAA National Champions.

Thanks in part to extensive renovations and a commitment by the University to transform the field into a state-of-the-art facility, the NCAA has named Goodwin Field as a host site for Regional play in seven of the past nine seasons and a host for Super Regional play in seven of the last eight years.

A $3 million expansion project, spearheaded by a $1 million gift from Jerry and Merilyn Goodwin, has transformed the field into one of the premier collegiate facilities on the West Coast. The field now features the Wilson Clubhouse - which includes locker rooms, a reception area and offices for the coaches - and the Doubek VIP Room.

Prior to the 2006 season, covered batting cages were installed in the area between the coaches offices and the Fullerton Arboretum to enable hitting and pitching at night or during inclement weather.
