Serrano Pegged as Team USA Pitching Coach in 2010

College Baseball Camps

USA Baseball announced Monday that Cal State Fullerton Head Coach Dave Serrano will serve as pitching coach for the 2010 USA Baseball National Team (Collegiate) under Head Coach Bill Kinneberg of the University of Utah.

In his first two seasons at the helm of Cal State Fullerton's baseball program, Dave Serrano has continued the Titans' long tradition of success that was set in motion years earlier by his predecessors and has already guided the school to a conference championship, two Regional titles, two Super Regional appearances and one trip to the College World Series. He has also produced nine All-Americans, a Big West Pitcher of the Year, a pair of Freshman Pitchers of the Year, and seven all-conference first teamers in his first two years back in pinstripes after serving as the Titans' pitching coach and recruiting coordinator from 1997-2004.

"Words can't describe how humbled and honored I feel to have been asked to be part of the coaching staff for Team USA next summer," Serrano said. "I will feel so blessed when I eventually get to wear the colors of our great country."

Serrano has coached 14 players who have gone on to star for USA Baseball National Teams, including current Titan shortstop Christian Colon, who played on the 2008 team and is currently in trials for the 2009 National Team. Former National Team members Todd Helton, R.A. Dickey, Kirk Saarloos, Chad Cordero, Wes Littleton, Ricky Romero and Scott Gorgen have all been tutored by Serrano on the mound, as has Tyler Pill, a 2009 Titan freshman All-American also attending the 2009 trials with Colon.

This year marked Serrano's seventh trip to the College World Series as a coach, going four times as a Titan assistant coach, once as a Tennessee assistant coach, once as skipper of UC Irvine, and once as a Titan head coach.

The Big 3 of the West is hosting a showcase camp January 16-18, 2010. This is an excellent opportunity for you to meet, learn and receive instruction from not only three of the Best Baseball programs in the state of California but three of the best programs in the entire Country.

The Big 3 of the West Showcase will provide you with valuable instruction for your development as a player and an opportunity for you to display your talents in front of the coaching staffs of these three powerhouse programs. The three day showcase will consist of offensive and defensive instruction, daily games and instruction conducted by the Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State and UC Irvine coaching staffs. Players will get the opportunity to play at each of these incredible facilities, three of the best facilities in California and in the U.S. Each day players will participate at a new location.

Participants will be divided into teams as coaches watch their performance in multiple game settings. The number of players for this showcase is limited; therefore, your registration must be received as soon as possible to secure your spot. We are looking forward to your participation.

Showcase Features:
-Each participant guaranteed to play in 3 games - one at each site
-Position Players guaranteed at least 3 at bats per game
-At least one member of each Coaching Staff will be in attendance at every site/game
-All three hosts are past College World Series Participants
-Players will participate in skill instruction and individual skill work-outs each day
-All participants will receive a camp T-Shirt from all 3 schools
-Participants will be taught the same way these 3 National powerhouse programs teach their own teams

General Information

Cal State Fullerton is limiting it's registrations to 54 participants per school. Sign up now and don't miss this outstanding opportunity to showcase your skills in front of three of the Top College Programs in the Country!

Each Player must bring his own baseball equipment. Players should bring a glove, bat, cleats, running shoes/turf shoes, hat, and any other equipment they feel necessary to compete. Catchers must bring their own gear. Helmets will be provided. However, all campers must bring their own baseball pants.

Camp Waiver Information

Each player attending The Big 3 of the West-H.S Showcase must be covered by his or her parents' insurance. Signature of parent is required and will serve as a medical release. Any and all medical expenses resulting from injury or illness will be the responsibility of the camper's private insurance company.

Miscellaneous Camp Info

What if I have to cancel a camp?
We do not offer refunds on cancelled campers, just a future camp credit if you decide to cancel, but we do have what is called "Cancellation Protection".

We offer basic Cancellation Protection to allow participants some peace of mind in case plans change. This allows us to keep our prices low and provide the best service possible. Due at the time of registration, Cancellation Protection entitles you to a full refund of camp fees should you cancel your registration more than 14 days prior to the start of an overnight camp, and 7 days prior to the start of a day camp. If you cancel within 14 or 7 days of the start of your session, we will give you a camp credit for all money paid. The credit is valid for three years from camp date at any of our national locations.

Credit with insurance is transferable to family members or friends, and good toward a future camp.
