Kellar, Wietlispach Earn All-MAAC Honors

Niagara senior pitcher Michael Kellar (Colifax, Ill.) and junior outfielder Matt Wietlispach (Chicago, Ill.) both received All-MAAC honors following the 2009 baseball season. Kellar was named First Team All-MAAC, while Wietlispach earned Second Team accolades.
The Purple Eagles, who finished tied for fourth in the conference with a 14-10 mark, had eight players named to the MAAC All-Academic Team, second among the nine teams in the conference.
Kellar earned a 6-1 record in MAAC action as the ace of the Niagara staff. The left-hander recorded back-to-back complete games, including a three-hit shutout at home against Siena. His first conference complete game of the season came the previous week at Fairfield where he held the Stags to five hits with one run while striking out a career-high nine batters. Overall on the season, Kellar boasted a 3.56 earned-run average with 37 strikeouts to just 28 walks in 55.2 innings pitched.
Wietlispach received second team praise in the outfield after starting every game this season, including all but one in the leadoff spot. The left fielder batted .304 in his first season on Monteagle Ridge, with a team-best 65 hits. He also ranked near the top of the team and conference with 20 stolen bases, 12 doubles, 40 runs scored and a .400 on-base percentage.
Seniors Aaron Bjorkquist (Daly City, Calif.) and Jessel Mangal (Toronto, Ont.), juniors Timothy Cozier (Ajax, Ont.), Bill Rafferty (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) and Geoff Strong (Welland, Ont.) and sophomores Brian Deering (Springfield, Va.), Matt Jordan (Orangeburg, N.Y.) and Cam Stykemain (Defiance, Ohio) were the eight Purple Eagle selections to the All-Academic Team. It marked the second honor for Mangal, Cozier, Rafferty and Strong.
To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. Iona College led all schools with nine members named to the team. Niagara University had eight student-athletes, while Rider University and Saint Peter's College both had seven.

NU Camp FAQs
Q. How do I prepare for a baseball camp or showcase?
A. Be in good physical and mental shape. As always you should be eating well with a proper diet for a athlete. Have your arm in shape and ready to go. Go into it with a positive attitude. Attending a college camp is a terrific opportunity to be evaluated by a college coaching staff and you want to be prepared.
Q. What is your refund policy?
A. We do not offer refunds on canceled campers, just a future camp credit if you decide to cancel, but we do have what is called "Cancellation Protection".
We offer basic Cancellation Protection to allow participants some peace of mind in case plans change. This allows us to keep our prices low and provide the best service possible. Due at the time of registration, Cancellation Protection entitles you to a full refund of camp fees should you cancel your registration more than 14 days prior to the start of an overnight camp, and 7 days prior to the start of a day camp. If you cancel within 14 or 7 days of the start of your session, we will give you a camp credit for all money paid.
The credit is valid for three years from camp date at any of our camps, clinics or prospect events. Credit with insurance is transferable to family members or friends, and good toward a future camp.
