Buster Posey Claims Brooks Wallace Award

The Brooks Wallace National Player of the Year Award Selection Committee has named Florida State All-American catcher Buster Posey of Leesburg, Ga., as the fifth recipient of the award, which was presented in a national telecast (FCS) on Wednesday evening at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center.
Posey conquered an elite field of 15 other semifinalists and finalists including consensus All-American shortstop Gordon Beckham of Georgia and pitcher Brian Matusz of San Diego. He will be honored Thursday afternoon in the Fourth on Broadway parade festivities along with the College Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2008.
The FSU standout was also named ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Academic Baseball Player of the Year for his classroom talents which follows many of the life tenets of the late Brooks Wallace.
The Wallace Award is a dedication to the memory of the former Texas Tech player and assistant coach. Wallace was a slick-fielding shortstop at Tech from 1977-80. A four-year starter, he was named All-Southwest Conference and All-District VII his senior year. He led the Red Raiders to their first-ever appearance in the Southwest Conference Tournament in 1980. After playing two years in the Texas Rangers organization, he returned to Texas Tech and served as a graduate assistant and later as an assistant coach.

MMBC Camp FAQs
Q. When and where can day campers be dropped off in the morning and picked up in the evening?
A. Day campers can be dropped off at Osceola Hall any time in the mornings between 7:00 am and 8:15 am. We will have a general meeting at 8:15 am to organize the campers before we leave for the field. (If a parent must drop off their camper at the stadium, be advised that we will not be there until 8:45 am)
Q. What is your refund policy?
A. We do not offer refunds on canceled campers, just a future camp credit if you decide to cancel, but we do have what is called "Cancellation Protection".
We offer basic Cancellation Protection to allow participants some peace of mind in case plans change. This allows us to keep our prices low and provide the best service possible. Due at the time of registration, Cancellation Protection entitles you to a full refund of camp fees should you cancel your registration more than 14 days prior to the start of an overnight camp, and 7 days prior to the start of a day camp. If you cancel within 14 or 7 days of the start of your session, we will give you a camp credit for all money paid.
The credit is valid for three years from camp date at any of our camps, clinics or prospect events. Credit with insurance is transferable to family members or friends, and good toward a future camp.
What they're saying...
“ Thank you for a great week at your Baseball Camp. Our sons, Matthew and Michael (and Max) had a great time and are still talking about all that they learned and experienced at FSU.
As I told you while I was there, I am very impressed with your direction of the camp. Your program pays attention to every details and is amazingly organized. The Coaches who work with you at the camp are fun loving, great with kids, and very knowledgeable in the ways of 'Seminole Baseball". The instruction sessions were well taught and the lessons were amazingly consistent even though the lessons were presented by different coaches and to different age groups. The campers were treated with respect and given the opportunity to make choice in their day, all while being under very close adult supervision. The atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming and by the conclusion of the camp one feels like they are saying goodbye to family.
I want you to know that your camp has set our expectations of all camps so high that we are unable to attend any other camps! We left your camp June 20, 2003 and signed into the University of Notre Dame's baseball camp in South Bend, Indiana on June 23, 2003. This camp is more expensive than the Mike Martin Baseball Camp and is one day shorter. As a day camper, my son was not allowed to participate in any sessions after 4 p.m. unless we paid an additional fee of $150. The professionalism, mood, instruction, and facilities were drastically inferior to your camp.
We left after only completing two days of camp to come home and work on the techniques learned at FSU. It did not take long for us to realize how you and your staff spoiled us at the Mike Martin Baseball School.
Again, thanks, Chip, to you and everyone at the Mike Martin Baseball School. You do a terrific job and we are most grateful that we were able to experience your "southern hospitality". We will definitely return to your camp in the future. (My husband wants us to come back for the July 27-Aug 1 sessions....and we will HAVE TO bring him along this time!) Don't forget to hold that spot for Max in June of 2012! GO 'NOLES!
